Description

Daruma was a Buddhist monk who introduced Buddhism from India to China. Daruma is a Japanese figurine that is a translation of the seated figure of Daruma. Today, Daruma is widely popular as a good-luck charm. Most are made of red papier-mâché. The figure has no arms or legs and has a large face, in reference to the legend that Daruma’s arms and legs rotted away as he continued to sit facing a wall.
